Green energy pioneer and inspiring entrepreneur, Inna Braverman is the inventor and co-founder of Eco Wave Power, which opened Europe’s first commercial scale wave power plant in Gibraltar. Ranked on’s 100 most influential people, a list she shares with billionaire heavyweights, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, Braverman opened her first power plant in Jaffa, Israel, when she was just 26-years-old.

Born in Ukraine two weeks before the Chernobyl disaster, Braverman nearly died as an infant from respiratory arrest triggered by the contaminated air that lingered after the nuclear meltdown. Braverman’s family relocated to a port city in Israel where she spent her childhood studying the ebb and flow of the sea. Shortly after graduating from the Haifa University, she met Canadian surfer and businessman, David Leb who was also interested in the possibility of harnessing energy from waves and the two cofounded Eco Wave Power in 2011.

Braverman’s start-up efforts came at an extremely unfavorable time for wave power. Due to the numerous failures and costly losses previous wave power ventures had suffered, Eco Wave Power had to convince investors that they could invent a system that would be viable and reliable. Braverman spent a year and a half designing and developing the technology while also raising funds, but her passion and belief in the importance of her work enabled her to persevere.

Today Eco Wave Power holds 130MW in it’s’ projects pipe line and will be supplying 15% of Gibraltar’s electricity. As of 2018 they also operate in China, Mexico, Israel and Gibraltar.

Braverman and the company have been the recipients of several accolades including the Frost and Sullivan Award, the Erasmus Business Award, and the Energy Globe Award by UNEP and UNESCO.

Braverman has been profiled by CNN and WIRED. She has spoken at TED events, and Google made a VR film about her story as a female entrepreneur called “Female Planet”.

Nowadays, Inna is involved in the lunch of the Eco Wave Coin, which will push forward the commercialization of wave energy worldwide, and potentially be an integral part of decentralized networks in the future.
